Nanjo Ran is the leader of the Nanjo House, a vassal of the Houjou House. Several years ago during the competition to determine who shall be the common leader of all the Ying Yang houses, she lost by a wide margin to Houjou Souun. Even though she hate losing, she fell in love with Hojo.

She and Houjou Souun are in love with each other, but due to personality conflicts things haven't been going very well.
