The crest of the Uesugi House is the kanji "毘", which is also the crest for the armies of the historical Uesugi Kenshin. It is the first character in Bishamonten (毘沙門天), the Japanese name for the Bhuddist diety Vaisravana who, in Japanese tradition, rules over warfare.
